Emily Sears Cook '12 was hired as the Director of Counseling and Wellness in the recently created Center for Counseling and Wellness. Through the center's services students are able to receive therapeutic services without the need for insurance or incurring any out-of-pocket costs.

Football is moved to the spring semester following the recommendation of two Mid-South Conference football division administrative councils. The Athletics Division also enacts strict COVID protocol testing and player self-reporting health tracking via smartphone apps to continue athletic seasons.

Due to the COVID pandemic, many traditional gatherings like Christmas at Bluefield were pre-recorded or live streamed on the University's social media channels. The Theater Department creatively presented a virtual production of "The Christmas Carol" helping to raise spirits during the Christmas holiday.
