Authors’ Notes Jeffrey A. Moore Poetry: The Riddle
I was born and raised in Flint, Michigan, but I have been living in southwest- ern Virginia for 15 years. My passion is writing lyrics and poems. I like to call them the Inner Workings of Resolute Soul. Carrie-Anne Moss Photography: Field of Dreams My name is Carrie-Anne Moss. I love taking pictures in my free time, and hope to keep it up as a hobby in the future! James Owens Poetry: Letter to Erin from a Winter Dawn, Breathing Late in Winter, At Some Dis- tance and Years Later James Owens’s most recent book is Family Portrait with Scythe, due out in spring, 2020, from Bottom Dog Press. His poems and translations appear widely in literary journals, including recent or upcoming publications in Atlanta Review, The Shore, The Honest Ulsterman, and Southword. Originally from Southwest Virginia, he earned an MFA at the University of Alabama and lives in a small town in northern Ontario. Tanya Pinette Photography: Bridge to the Unknown Tanya is a junior at Bluefield College from Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. She is majoring in Communications and double minoring in Graphic Communication Fred is a McDowell County native and a retired miner and public school teacher. He currently writes short stories and is a storyteller/historian of coal-mining stories. He currently has two self-published books on mining and is working on several others. He has presented his storytelling in character at many venues throughout Appalachia. Fred will audition to be a ‘History Alive’ storyteller in May for the West Virginia Humanities Council. Dr. Charles Priest Song: Salty Air Charles Priest is currently the chair of the Music Department at Bluefield College. When not busy grading papers and putting out fires, he get’s easily distracted by thoughts of warm waters, palm trees and one specific island in the Bahamas. and English writing. Fred M.
