TOGETHER, we see a world where PEOPLE unite and take action to CREATE lasting CHANGE across the globe, in our communities, and in ourselves. OUR VISION OBJECT OF ROTARY The Object of Rotary is to encourage and foster the ideal of service as a basis of worthy enterprise and, in particular, to encourage and foster: FIRST: The development of acquaintance as an opportunity for service; SECOND: High ethical standards in business and professions; the recognition of the worthiness of all useful occupations; and the dignifying of each Rotarian’s occupation as an opportunity to serve society; THIRD: The application of the ideal of service in each Rotarian’s personal, business, and community life; FOURTH: The advancement of international understanding, goodwill, and peace through a world fellowship of business and professional persons united in the ideal of service.
R. GORDON R. MCINALLY ROTARY INTERNATIONAL PRESIDENT 2023-2024
Dear fellow Rotary leaders,
As you attend your District Conference, do not forget your vital importance to Rotary. We have been handed the reins of leadership at a historic moment. Rotary
has a chance to capture the world’s attention and realize possibilities beyond our expectations. But we must build on the work that has gone before us if we are to reach our goals, such as defeating polio and empowering girls and women. Rotary offers people of action a chance to connect and find a sense of belonging, and this fellowship gives us hope that we can create lasting change. But in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, more people than ever feel hopeless. Many have lost people close to them. Social networks have been uprooted and divisions have grown wider as opportunities for connection have been lost. To make matters worse, in many parts of the world, asking for help — especially in the realm of mental health — is considered a weakness. But nothing could be further from the truth. It is brave to be vulnerable and to admit you don’t have all the answers. Reaching out for help is courageous — and continuing on a path towards wellness is even more so. Join me in making Rotary a source of strength for all of those who feel they have no hope, within and beyond our membership. Let this be the year we Create Hope in the World, and let Rotary be known as an organization that takes care of its members as well as the people we serve. It is within your power to help bring peace and soothe those afflicted by conflict, both in their communities and in themselves. I hope you take the knowledge gained at this District Conference back to your clubs to help them succeed throughout the coming year. Remember that your work can and will Create Hope in the World.
Warmest Regards,

KEYNOTE SPEAKER FRIDAY - GENERAL SESSION 1
RONDA PAULSON ISAIAH 117 HOUSE
Ronda Paulson, and her husband Corey, answered a calling to provide physical and emotional support in a safe and loving home for children on one of the worst days of their lives: Removal Day. It was in their own Path Training (to
become Foster Parents) that they learned what a typical removal day looked like for children and then they saw first-hand on their now adopted son, Isaiah’s, removal day. Ronda knew something needed to be done to reduce the trauma for these children and to lighten the very heavy load of the case workers. What if there was a home? Isaiah 117 House opened its first red door in Carter County, TN in 2017. There are now (as of this writing) 18 open homes, and another 35 in various stages of opening. The mission is now serving 12 states and continues to grow. A little bit about Isaiah 117 House When children are removed from their homes out of concern for their safety, they are usually brought to a child welfare service office to await placement. This wait can be a few hours to several days. These children often have nothing with them and are scared, lonely, hungry, and in dirty clothes. Isaiah 117 House provides a comforting home where these children instead can be brought to wait—a place that is safe, with friendly and loving volunteers who provide clean clothes, smiles, toys, and snuggly blankets. This space allows children to receive the comfort and care they need while child welfare staff can do the necessary paperwork and identify a good placement.
The mission of Isaiah 117 House is threefold: Reduce trauma for children awaiting placement. Lighten the load for child welfare services. Ease the transition for foster families.
